TAKING TIME WITH MY WIFE
I’m focusing on family this month in two big — and very different — ways. Obviously, Thanksgiving comes at the close of the month. Like most of you, I have plans with family, although we’re still not quite sure who will be hosting this year. But as important as big family get-togethers are, it’s just as important to spend quality time with family members one-on-one, and that’s what my wife and I are doing this month when we head to Vegas.
few times, and you can bet we’ll walk up and down the Strip just like we did years ago and see the sights. Whatever we get up to, we’ll be doing it together — and that’s the whole point of this trip. I’ve talked in the past about spending time with my wife and how important it is to us to get away together. The fact is, it isn’t always easy to find time sneak away. When you’re a parent, your time is not your own, and we’re both busy with other things besides our wonderful kids. But that makes it more important, not less, because the limited time in our days is one of the reasons we’re carving out time for this trip. I suspect we’ll be pretty excited to see the rest of the family when we get back, and I know I’m already looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner. We’ll show up at my mom’s house or my brother’s house, or Beth and I will host. Wherever we are, I’ll carve the turkey. I always get told to carve the turkey, My special technique is called “Get meat on the plates, quick!”, and that’s probably why I get asked to carve. After everyone has eaten, we’ll head into the family room together to watch “Elf,” as per tradition. How are you spending time with family this season? Whatever your plans, I hope you’ll share them the next time you’re in our office.

We haven’t been there as a couple since I was in dental school. Back then, we didn’t have a lot of money, so we just walked up and down the Strip and saw what we could see from there. It was still a lot to take in, and we had fun and took home some great memories. That said, we weren’t able to catch any shows or have a nice meal out, so we always knew we wanted to go back. Now we’re finally getting to do just that. We’ll go see Cirque du Soleil or some other show. We’ll also go out to dinner a
P.S. Now is a great time to schedule those end-of-year cleanings if you still have one left on your insurance; often, it’s a use-it-or-lose-it deal.
