The Lakes South Morang College Newsletter SCHOOL COUNCIL REPORT

Hello to our Parents and Carers,

Firstly, a huge congratulations to our first ever Year 12’ s on finishing their classes, such a massive milestone for them personally and for our school as our first graduating class. Best of luck to those sitting exams over the last few weeks!

Our School Review is progressing well. The panel have spent the last couple of weeks reviewing data from the preliminary work done earlier in the year, including the Parent Opinion Survey; reviewing the school ’ s performance against targets in the outgoing Strategic Plan; observing classes in action on both campuses; observing teacher planning; running focus groups with students/parents/classroom teachers/specialist teachers/education support staff; and learning about how student performance data is collected and used.

The final day will produce key directions to the school, articulate high - level key improvement strategies and determine targets for the new 4 - year Strategic Plan.

Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback in to the running of our school. Some very clear themes have emerged from the conversations which will be very useful to the school going forward. It was also very clear, and heartening, to see the progress the school has made over the past 4 years, in both academic results and in new processes, despite 2 years of pandemic disruption.

At our most recent School Council meeting, we:

• Brainstormed a list of potential mid - scale capital expenditure projects on both campuses. Some of the ideas brought to the table included landscaping, bike shelters and alterations to the flexible working spaces.

Endorsed the 2023 Parent Curriculum Contributions. These will be communicated to families shortly.

Our next School Council meeting is on 15 November. As always, if anyone has any concerns or would like to discuss anything about our school, you are more than welcome to email me at amanda.farrelly@education.vic.gov.au
