tion of the writer that untold good will be accomplished. There will be a revival of Bible study. Facts concerning the his toricity of Jesus and His life will be brought forth; and indisputable evidence proving that He was and is the Jewish Messiah and Saviour of the world, will be broadcasted to the world. Then the honest hearts will accept the truth. Scrip tural, historical facts which will be uni versally known, though probably not ac cepted by the majority of the Jewish race, will nevertheless make an impression up on them and will, in the Tribulation; when the Jews are reduced to their direst need, open their eyes and cause them to make the great confession mentioned by Isaiah and Zechariah (Isa. 53:1-9; Zech. 12:10-14). The reason for mak ing such a statement is that the Jewish question is one of the most critical world problems, which affects all nations since they are scattered throughout the world. Furthermore the present political situa tion of the world is so very complicated that no nation or people can longer claim to be isolated from the rest. A third, and probably more potent ;factor, is the fact that the League of Nations incorporated in the Versailles Treaty the Balfour Declaration which grants Palestine to the Jews as their homeland. The Palestinian Arabs, who are encouraged and who seem to be supported by the Moslem world, are Jewish Calendar 5689 1929 .

The Proposed Reorganization of the Sanhedrin TJURING July the writer had the plea sure and privilege of going to Denver to confer with the Jewish laymen who are sponsoring the movement to organize a society which will have as its special aim and object the reorganization of the Sanhedrim—the Jewish Supreme Court which tried and condemned Jesus and which was removed from Jerusalem, at the national overthrow iri A.D. 70, to Jamnia, thence to Sepphoris, and lastly to Tiberias, at which place it was dis solved by 135 A.D. According to news paper reports and certain documents which fell into his hands, those sponsor ing the movement have a sincere desire to have the Sanhedrin meet in the city of Jerusalem for the- purpose of investigat ing, in a thorough and an impartial man ner, the life, claims, trial, and condemna tion of Jesus of Nazareth. There were certain questions which arose in his mind concerning the personnel, motives, meth ods of procedure, etc,, of the promoters of this unusual movement. He wished first-hand, accurate information; there fore he went to Denver for said con ference. This visit was indeed most satisfac tory and satisfying. All doubts and ques tions concerning thé whole procedure were settled and answered in a most sat isfactory manner. As to the personnel of the promoters, let it be known that those whom he met and with whom he conversed are men and women of intellectual attainments, cul ture and refinement, and high ideals of morality and spirituality. As to their standing socially, they move in the very best circles of cultured and refined so ciety. In the business world their stand ing is the very best. From the stand point of religion they are sincere, earnest Jewish people who believe in the God of the Old Testament and who believe that it is the revealed will of God to man. The various callings of life are represented in their number. His conferences with the. leaders have convinced him beyond a doubt that the motive which has prompted these men in the present case is that of a desire to know facts and truths. There was every evidence pointing to the fact that a pure and holy motive animates and actuates their endeavors. This movement that has headed up in this Denver gathering is very widespread, having thousands of supporters throughout America, together with some Jews in foreign countries who are very enthusiastic over the movement. According to all the information which the writer could obtain, "the practical Jew ish business man is open minded and im partial, having a very great desire to ascer tain the facts concerning Jesus of Naza reth, as to whether He really was and is the Jewish Messiah. This desire to learn the truth has providentially been brought about by the facts that the ghetto, with its exclusiveness and hostility towards all

the radio the Gospel is now being preached in thousands and tens of thou sands of Jewish homes; and that the con tact which the Jewish world has with the Christian world thrusts the claims of Jesus upon the Jew so that he can no longer dismiss questions pertaining to Jesus with negations concerning the his toricity of Jesus, etc. Another factor which has been used providentially under God to bring about the present condition, is that numbers of prominent Jewish rab bis (Reformed) have spoken very highly of Jesus, His character, and His teach ings. A third factor which has awakened the Jewish soul and heart in modern times is the great World War and the granting by the League of Nations, ac cording to the Balfour Declaration, of Palestine to the Jew as his homeland. Along with this awakened national con sciousness comes the desire for the Mes siah. According to present plans, which, at the present state of development, can only be in embryo, the Sanhedrin is to be a body representative of all Jewry. It is to consist of seventy-one members: twenty- three rabbis who have established, be yond peradventure, a record of piety, im partiality, with an unquenchable desire to know facts and tru th ; twenty-four scholars and experts who likewise have established a record of fair dealing, im partiality, and a desire for facts and truths; and finally twenty-four practical business men whose honor and integrity cannot be called in question and who are able to weigh evidence. These will be sworn into office by the most solemn oath in the Jewish ritual that they will investi gate the evidence presented impartially and that they will courageously proclaim to the world their findings, regardless of consequences. As to the time when this high court is convened, nothing at present can be said. The promoters are awaiting “the ripening influence of time” for its con vocation. These Jewish leaders are confident that the calling of the Sanhedrin is inevitable and that an authoritative representative Jewish answer concerning Jesus of Naz areth must be given. The writer is in clined very strongly to believe that this Sanhedrin will be convened and that the trial will take place. Furthermore, he be lieves that if it does occur the daily pro ceedings of said court, with full testi mony of each witness, will be given to the world over the radio and through the daily papers. This trial will be in the limelight and there will be an awakened interest in the study of the Bible such as the world has never known. There will be an earnest desire on the part of many to learn the facts and to accept them when known; It may be the means of the revival in the end-time spoken of by many Bible teachers. Regardless of what decision the San hedrin may render, it is the firm convic- Christian influences, is practically a thing of the past; that through the medium of
