As a pastor for more than thirty years, and a Bible conference teacher in over four hundred cities of the United States and Canada, the author is well qualified to prepare this outline summary of the entire Bible—-in a manner to provoke in dividual Bible study as well as to afford a standard conservative textbook for Sunday-school training courses. By di viding the. books of the Bible into eight groups and placing questions of great pertinence after each group, Dr. White provides a plan which will prove im mensely helpful to the reader in private devotions, or to the group bent upon ac quiring a better understanding of the whole Bible. 176 pages. 7j/£ x 5 inches. Biola. Cloth. Price $1.75. Postage 13 cents. — o — The Church at Work B y C larence H. B enson Instructor of Church Superz/ision, Moody Bible Institute The writer is a son of the manse. His great-grandfather and grandfather were Moravian missionaries among the In dians. As a frontier missionary his father built four church edifices, organized a dozen congregations and Sunday schools, and started sixteen young men, including his son, into the ministry. The circumstances which required that the years of training be interspersed with secular employment proved more of a blessing than a hardship. It was during this time that the writer served as an ap prentice on a newspaper, ultimately pub lishing a county weekly. Later he had the privilege of serving in the advertising department of the largest milling con cern in the world. It was here that he became impressed with the splendid or ganization and efficiency of a" successful ■business establishment, which later was to furnish him many suggestions for the enlargement and betterment of the church. While the manuscript, “The Church at Work,” has been primarily prepared as a text for students, may it not also suggest to pastors a program of activities and stimulate church members to be partic ipants in these activities? Illustrative Stories for Pulpit and Platform B y W illiam M elville C urry “Rollers to carry some truth” is the unique expression used by the author in speaking of this collection of stories, most of which are gathered from per sonal experiences while in the country and great expanses of the West. They are here presented in a usable and inspira tional form, and the truths illustrated of fer much food for thought. A classified index is given. Published by Revell Co. Price $1.50. — o — ■ David James Burrell A B iography by D avid D e F orest B urrell , D.D. This biography of Dr. Burrell, by his son, is the record of a full life of faith ful service. For more than a generation he was one of the great evangelical stalwarts, stand ing in the forefront of the battle against sin and unrighteousness in all its forms. From the days when he was a young student struggling with doubt, to the prime of his ministry in the Marble Col legiate Church, Dwight L. Moody was at his elbow in every critical moment, and had a hand in turning him to a sincere evangelical faith. For eight years he occupied the chair of Professor of Homiletics at Princeton. Dr. Daniel A. Poling, who has written an introduction to this volume, says: “My own life was immeasurably blessed by the love of this radiant man, this inspired minister of Jesus Christ.” Published by Revell Co. Price $2.00. “The Rapture, or The Translation of the Saints,” by Francis Asa Wight, is a thought-provoking book on the next great prophetic event to take place; namely, the catching up of all true believers (living and dead) to be with Christ in the air at His coming for His Church. The author has tried to establish a se quence of events relative to the rapture, making this glorious event to take place during the breaking of the sixth seal as found in the sixth chapter of the book of Revelation. He has taken some passages from the Gospels and applied them to the rapture. We question some of these applications. If, however, these passages can be thus applied, he has established a strong argu ment for the church passing through at least Half of the tribulation period. The author makes the great multitude of Revelation 7 to be the whole Church coming out of the great tribulation period and seen by the apostle John in the air before the throne, and not merely a com — b — ' The Rapture B y F rancis A sa W ight

pany of martyred saints slain by the Beast as most Bible students class them. In this and several other places he has departed from the beaten path of inter pretation accepted by most premillennial Bible expositors. ■While we, with our present prophetic knowledge, cannot agree with all of our brother’s conclusions, yet we heartily commend the book to our readers. It makes one feel that the com ing of Christ for His own is very real and may be very near. The author is evidently a deep student of the sacred Scriptures. He has handled his theme with reverence and sincere devotion to God and His Word. The book should be read by every child of God. It will cre ate a devout anticipation of His coming. Published by the Evangelical Press, Price paper, 35 cents; board, 75 cents. —o— “The World’s Greatest Need: Spirit uality,!’ “The World’s Greatest Battle: Flesh versus Spirit,” “The World’s Greatest Book: The Bible,” “The World’s G r e a t e s t Sin: Selfishness.” These are four of the nineteen chapter divisions under which Dr. House dis cusses “The World’s Greatest Things.” A timely book on timely themes, clear, comprehensive, and faith-inspiring. Pub lished by Revell Co. Price. $2.00. The World’s Greatest Things B y E lwin L incoln H ouse , D.D. Dr. Agar, from his twenty years’ ex perience in meeting the financial affairs of the local church, states: “Often the whole program of a spiritual production was rendered impossible by reason of the prevalence of money-raising and profit- seeking.” Many of the methods used in raising money which in themselves seem harmless, are shown to be detrimental to the cause of the Christian Church. The concluding chapter is rich in illus trations of the true motive and spirit of giving. Published bv Revell Co. Price $ 1 . 00 . —o— Carry On!
