Term 4 is set to be a busy and exciting time in Prep! We will visit the farm and explore what living things need to survive, grow and thrive. In Literacy, students will continue to build their reading skills by applying their developing letter sound knowledge to read connected text, helping to build fluency, accuracy and confidence. In Mathematics, we will deepen our understanding of number concepts, exploring how numbers can be represented, composed, partitioned and compared. Students will also develop greater flexibility with numbers as they learn to think about numbers in different ways and explain their mathematical thinking. We look forward to a wonderful final Term! Year 1 is enjoying an exciting and engaging time of learning as we move into Term 4! In Literacy, students are continuing to develop their phonics knowledge, building confidence with sounds, blending, segmenting and reading and writing words and sentences. We are also enjoying the wonderful stories of Julia Donaldson, exploring characters, settings, vocabulary and imaginative storytelling. In Mathematics, our focus is on measurement, and addition and subtraction, developing practical skills through hands-on activities and problem-solving. We are also looking forward to celebrating our achievements together at our special Year 1 Dinner and End-of-Year Celebration. What a wonderful year! Term 4 is shaping up to be a busy but wonderful term for Year 2! In Literacy, students will explore our Inquiry focus through reading, research and information report writing. We are also looking forward to our special Year 2 Sleepover, where students will build independence, have fun and create lasting memories. This Term, Year 3 students will continue developing their mathematical skills through data investigations, location and mapping, probability, multiplication, division, mass and capacity. In Literacy, students will explore the themes, characters and messages in The One and Only Ivan , strengthening their comprehension, vocabulary and response skills. We will also be completing an integrated Literacy unit on Natural Disasters, investigating different types of disasters, their causes, impacts and how communities respond and recover. In addition to this, students will continue developing their letter writing skills. In Mathematics, our focus will be on Data and Investigation, Probability, and consolidating key mathematical concepts taught throughout the year. We are also looking forward to our exciting Year 4 Camp at The Ranch! This will be a wonderful opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zones, develop independence and work together as a team while creating some very special memories! Term 4 will be a busy and exciting term as students consolidate and build upon the knowledge and skills developed throughout Terms 1–3. Year 5 plays an important role in preparing students for the increased independence and responsibilities of Year 6. In Literacy, students will explore poetry from different countries and contribute to a poetry anthology. They will also participate in a cultural inquiry, researching different countries and creating a travel journal highlighting key features, including capitals, landmarks, food, traditions and currency. In Mathematics, students will investigate data and further develop their understanding of fractions, decimals, percentages, discounts and multi-step problem-solving. Term 4 will be a busy and exciting one for our 5/6 VIA class, as we build on our learning and prepare our Year 6 students for their next chapter! In Literacy, we will explore non-fiction texts, with a focus on the scientific method and states of matter. Students will also design and create their own app to support families in helping children with their learning at home. In Mathematics, we will investigate and interpret data, develop our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages—including calculating discounts—and consolidate the four operations through multi-step problem solving. We are excited to begin our final term of Year 6! Term 4 will be filled with learning, excitement and special moments as students prepare for the transition to Year 7. Highlights include our MCG excursion, exploring our Influential Australians and celebrating the students’ Graduation. In mathematics we will investigate and interpret data, continue to develop our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages and consolidate our four operations. As school leaders, students continue to model our school values of Respect, Leadership, Learning and Teamwork. Students are also reminded to complete and return their weekly Literacy and Numeracy homework as instructed.
