Silicone-coated fiberglass panels could be joined securely and configured around different work areas rather than relying on disposable structures or more failure-prone zippered connection methods.
Earlier soft-sided systems often relied heavily on zippers.
“The zippers are prone to breaking, messing up, burning, melting,” Shutt says. “Once that zipper is damaged, that panel is no longer viable; its intended purpose of containing pressure is defeated.” Samer’s Quadra-Lock panel interlocking design allows reusable panels to interlock securely, including at 90- degree angles, so enclosures can be configured around different work areas.
For operators, that flexibility matters beyond convenience.
“When you’re looking at a cost perspective or an investment in these units, you know that this panel is going to last a long time,” Nicholas Shutt, General Manager, Petrohab
The enclosure itself was only one part of the solution.
PetroHab also developed a safety shutdown system designed to continuously monitor hazardous conditions and help isolate hot work from the surrounding operating environment, while ensuring that the adequate amount of pressure inside the enclosure is maintained.
