A FLEXIBLE APPROACH TO TUNNEL MONITORING

Triaxial Tilt Sensors

Compact, high-precision tilt sensors measure minute changes in angle or inclination, making them ideal for monitoring changes in tunnel geometry, structural deformation, settlement and heave. Their small size and flexible mounting options allow them to be installed directly onto tunnel linings and other structural surfaces.

Optical Displacement Sensor (ODS)

These can combine a laser and a tilt sensor to measure relative displacement between two points, making them particularly suited to monitoring tunnel convergence and divergence. Installed across the tunnel profile, they provide continuous measurement of changes in distance as excavation or construction progresses and throughout the operational life of the tunnel.

Wireless monitoring can be used across a wide range of tunnelling and underground applications, including:

• New tunnel construction • Refurbishment and structural modification • Track lowering and electrification • Monitoring third-party buildings and assets • Shafts and diaphragm walls • Temporary works • Structural health monitoring during operation
