Rangeford Villages and Octopus Real Estate have appointed Rydon, which has offices in Bristol, for the delivery of its new £50m 'lifestyle village for the over 60s' in Gloucestershire. Work constructing the 125 new homes, which will create Siddington Park, is scheduled to start in spring on a 12- acre former parkland site on the outskirts of Cirencester. Paul Barber, South West regional director for Rydon Construction, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us, as we grow our business in high-quality retirement housing, whilst bringing opportunities for local businesses and young people to train in our sector" l

STROUD DISTRICT COUNCIL APPROVES REDEVELOPMENT AT HISTORIC HOTEL Plans to create new bedrooms and enhance the on-site restaurant at Stonehouse Court Hotel have been approved. The Grade II-Listed hotel’s owner, Cedar House Hotel Company Ltd, is planning to demolish a dated 1980s extension to make way for a new two-storey building. That will include new dining space, replacement kitchens and three new bedroom suites. Another part of the approved plans involves permission to

construct a new building within the hotel's gardens, which will house an additional 10 bedrooms. At the time of the planning submission, local residents expressed concerns over increased hotel guests and how this would lead to noise pollution and further loss of privacy.
