Eyesore Gloucester pub to be transformed by £500,000 investment
The Flynns' plans for The Three Oaks are to include a weekly pub quiz, karaoke, bingo and live music, kids' entertainment and a pool team. There will also be at least six screens showing live sports. Ms Flynn said: "We have lots of family and friends in Gloucester, so know the area well. “When we heard that Star Pubs & Bars was investing in upgrading the pub, and that food would become a major feature, it was an opportunity not to be missed. "We and our children are looking forward to becoming part of the community and creating a family friendly pub the area can be proud of. It's an exciting new chapter for us all." A major transformation project is underway to transform an eyesore Gloucester pub. Previously seen as something of a blot on the landscape, £500,000 is being spent to overhaul The Three Oaks on Baneberry Road in Robinswood. Owned by Star Pubs and Bars, The Three Oaks will reopen at the end of March and is expected to create 11 new jobs for the local community. Licensees Emma and Phillip Flynn say they have ambitious plans to transform the venue into the best family-friendly local community pub in the area. Outside, The Three Oaks is being given a top-to-toe facelift, with pale grey render and a new timber frame entrance and covered terrace area creating a softer, more rustic look. And at the side of the pub, the look will be improved by a new decked area with timber frame covered pergola. The beer garden will have fixed cushion covered seating framed by planters and a firepit. And for children, there will be play equipment to keep them entertained. The inside is being completely reconfigured to improve the flow within the building and create more space. The bar, kitchen and toilets are all being relocated, and a large bar lounge area created with access to the garden. Seating capacity will almost double from 70 to 136 and a new sports and locals bar is also being created. Food will be served every day of the week and the bar will serve everything from traditional cask ale to a range of spirits, wines and soft drinks.
