PRE VOCATIONAL STUDY BTEC Entry Level 2 - Certificate or Extended Certificate Qualification

Venue: Alton Campus Duration: 1 year/2 years

Assessment You will undertake a series of units which will gradually build your portfolio for when you are ready to claim your qualifications. Staff use a variety of assessment methods including role play, observations, written, visual and practical work. Progression Having successfully completed this course, students have progressed onto other courses within the Foundation Learning department. At the end of this course students will be ready to make a progression choice to further education at a higher or more specialist level, or be ready to enter adult life with skills to live more independently. Entry Requirements A positive attitude to learning and the ability to work at an Entry Level 2. Students will typically come from a SEN school.

Overview This course will develop your skills to be more independent and work ready. We will give you the confidence to take your next steps. On this course you will complete the BTEC Entry Level 2 in Pre-vocational Study - Certificate or Extended Certificate Qualification. This qualification allows a mix of life skills and vocational options. At the end of this course students will be ready to make a progression choice to further education at a higher or more specialist level, or be ready to enter adult life with skills to live more independently. Structure You will be able to sample a range of vocational areas such as art, sports, catering, drama and horticulture. In addition, you will get the chance to improve your functional skills in English, Mathematics and IT. You will also have the opportunity to take part in work experience placements or enterprise activities as well as weekly enrichment options. The course also incorporates learning a range of independent living and social communication skills. Teaching & Learning: You will learn in small group sizes and have the added support of Learning Support Assistants. Many students enjoy the variety of different subjects and welcome the opportunity to gain some independence. You will also have the chance to enjoy the social aspects of college life.
