at George Pepperdine College, Los An geles, is a pursuasive “plea for toler ance and justice toward Jewish people.” The writer brings to his task youth, conviction, and desire for Israel’s good. Considered from the standpoint of American democratic ideals and of sim ple fairness to a race that has con tributed much to civilization, it is a strong and unusual piece of writing. It is the type of message that could be given to a Jewish businessman or liberal teacher to show friendliness toward Israel. This appeal could be followed profitably by one equally sympathetic in spirit, showing the ground for salva-

The cry for hplp from persecuted Jews and Jewish Christians continues. The reports coming from English and Scottish missionary societies workihg in Europe, and the statements of the In* ternational Hebrew Christian Alliance of London and of various organizations of Jews in America all testify to the continued agony of Jews and Jewish Christians in certain nations of Europe. From the International H e b r e w Christian Alliance of London comes a 1 letter from its Secretary, Jacob Peltz, dated May 25, 1939, in which he writes: “Our information comes from German- official sources and is to the effect that there are (in Germany) 1,200,000 non- Aryans.” Many of them are being perse cuted, robbed, and disinherited. There are 28,900 to 30,000 Jewish Christians in Norway, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, France, and England. Thou sands are helpless, penniless, and hope less without the aid of Christian friends who will come to their relief. Up to the present moment, America has escaped the scourge of dictatorship and totalitarianism. Christian people in America, and in the. world, have two responsibilities in the present crisis—to preserve the fundamental rights of men and to relieve thè persecuted and op pressed. There is a tornado of hate and destruction ravaging the world. The Friends of Israel Refugee Relief Committee, Inc., is organized for the sole purpose of bringing relief to Jews and Jewish Christians in distress. The Committee works through established missionary agencies in Scotland and England. For further facts, please see page 490 of this issue. Day of Prayer for Israel Workers among the Jews in America, Europe, Palestine, and other lands agree that ..the hearts of the chosen people are more open and receptive to the Word .of God and the gospel message today than, ever before. Present condi tions constitute an urgent call for a forward movement of prayer and effort on the part of Christians to reach the Jews with the gospel and the Word of God. In view of the terrible plight of the Jews, .nd the opportunity facing Christians, friends of Israel have set aside Friday, December 1, as an Inter national Day for Prayer for the Jews throughout the world. The spokesman for this group is George T. B. Davis, Secretary of the Million Testaments Campaign. It is suggested that on the Day of Prayer believers gather in homes or mission halls or churches, for intercession, praise,' and testimony on behalf of the ancient people.
