Health Equity & Black Men's Prostate Cancer Initiative

The Black Men’s Prostate Cancer Initiative (BMPCI) provides education and support resources for those in the Black community who may be affected by prostate cancer.

BMPCI Support Groups The BMPCI Support Groups provide Black patients and survivors of prostate cancer a private and safe space to share their experiences and gain support. Meetings are currently held virtually every second and fourth Monday of each month, and in- person in Atlanta, GA every third Saturday of each month.

"Prostate Cancer in the Black Community" Film Series This Film Series is an awareness and education event that highlights and raises awareness about prostate cancer and the ways in which it affects the Black community. Each event focuses on ways to empower members of the Black community in preventing, seeking treatment for, and surviving prostate cancer.

Health Equity Podcast Our health equity-focused podcast covers a number of topics, from early detection and prostate cancer screening for Black patients, to navigating the healthcare system as a member of the Black community, to managing the emotions of a prostate cancer diagnosis for Black patients, and much more.

Health Equity Learning Community ZERO is developing local learning communities for men experiencing disparities in prostate cancer outcomes that include prostate cancer survivors, healthcare providers, and healthcare administrators to co- create local solutions to address the barriers that families face navigating their prostate cancer journey. Our first is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Interdisciplinary Research Leaders program and will be in St. Louis, MO.
