(iii) Our CareersPlus team developed the Embracing Diversity series consisting of six events across 2022. Events were shared with members of our Athena Swan Business School Network. In total, there were 319 attendees and speakers from Accenture, Visa, and the CIPD participated.
We embed our values in the way we practice inclusive teaching . One example comes from our TLE group, who work with academics to produce digital and broadcast materials. o During Covid we adopted a ‘1+1+1’ model (one hour live; one interactive; one asynchronous). All 3,004 asynchronous videos produced by faculty, and watched 1,093,139 times between October 2020/2021, were edited for inclusivity. Subtitles were added to all 3,004 recordings. The group manually added 753 transcripts for live sessions. o All published materials on our online MBA are assessed by TLE via a scorecard that considers diversity, gender, and representation. o We are incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, offering workshops for academics. The first module to go through this process has just been published. We teach modules that critically explore gender inequality, many of which draw upon extensive faculty research on this topic. Modules include ‘Equality and Diversity’, ‘Managing Work and Employment’, ‘Work and HR in a Global Context’, ‘Managing HR in Contemporary Organizations’. Equa lity and Diversity is becoming especially popular on the UG (162 students in 2022/3). From 2023/24, a new module, ‘Leading and Harnessing Diversity’, will run on the Executive MBA.
Continuing to extend the reach of our work, degree awarding gaps have become an increasing focus. We find females consistently receive stronger grades than males across UG
