Relevant experience Extensive experience of working in a large complex organisation whist carrying out a deputy or Head of Health and Safety role. Experience of working with external agencies to progress Health and Safety related issues. Experience of developing and delivering Health and Safety training. Experience of setting, monitoring and achieving organisational standards and targets Experience of working in a pressurised environment with limited resources and tight deadlines. Experience of working in an educational institution, preferably in the HE/FE sector. Experience of Health and Safety auditing systems.

Education and training

Diploma in Safety Management (NEBOSH diploma level) or equivalent. Degree in science, health & safety or engineering discipline. Post graduate management qualification. Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Evidence of recent in-service training/skills updating/CPD. Comprehensive knowledge of aspects of Health and Safety Management. Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, associated with University activities. Exposure to best practice or leading edge Health and Safety Management.
