2. Yard Requirements for Lot Without Structures. If a zoning lot is or will be occupied by a permitted use without structures, provide and maintain minimum front, side and rear yards as required by these Zoning Regulations. a. Exception: Zoning lots used for public open space recreation areas are not required to provide or maintain such yards. G. Permitted Obstructions in Required Yards. 1. In all required yards , the following are not permitted obstructions: a. Attached garage or attached carport. b. Attached porch or deck. c. Attached wing wall. d. Permanent roof over a terrace, patio, or an open or closed porch or deck. 2. In all required yards , the following are permitted obstructions: a. Open terraces or patios which are 4 feet or less above the average level of the adjoining ground. b. Awnings or canopies. c. Steps which are necessary for access to a permanent structure or a zoning lot, which are 4 feet or less above grade. d. One story bay windows. e. Overhanging eaves and gutters which project 36 inches or less into the yard. f. Chimneys, windows and window wells which project 36 inches or less into the yard. g. Arbors and trellises. h. Flagpoles. i. Basketball goals.

j. Ornamental light or gas fixtures. k. Parking areas, when permitted by Article 6 of these Zoning Regulations. l. Accessory and temporary uses, when permitted by Article 7 of these Zoning Regulations. m. Signs, when permitted by Article 8 of these Zoning Regulations. n. Fences and walls, when permitted by Section 4-103 of these Zoning Regulations. o. Items otherwise specifically permitted by these Zoning Regulations 3. In rear and side yards (any yard except a front yard or a side yard adjoining a street which is deemed to be a front yard), the following are permitted obstructions: a. Accessory structures and uses, when permitted by Article 7. b. Children's recreational equipment. c. Laundry drying equipment.
