APARTMENT: A suite of rooms with at least one complete kitchen and at least one complete bathroom, which is designed and intended to be an independent and complete dwelling unit, and which is not owned in fee simple. APARTMENT BUILDING: A structure containing at least 3
ARCHITECT: A professional architect licensed by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions to practice in the State of Kansas. See LAND PLANNER. ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT: The basic aesthetic idea of a building or group of buildings or structures, including the site and landscape development, which establishes architectural character. ARCHITECTURAL FEATURE: A prominent or significant part or element of a building, structure, or site. ARCHITECTURAL STYLE: A set of building forms and details associated with a particular architectural character or historic period. ARTERIAL STREET: See STREET/ARTERIAL STREET. ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY: A group residence for adults, especially seniors, in which tenants live in individual apartments. Assistance with activities of daily living is available to residents as needed, and may include shared meals and help with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, bathing, dressing, and taking medications. ATM: Acronym for automated teller machine. An electronic banking facility, where customers can complete basic transactions without the aid of a teller. ATTRACTIVE: Having qualities that arouse interest and pleasure in the observer.

APPEARANCE: The outward aspect of a site or structure, visible to the public. APPLICANT: A person submitting an application for approval of a zoning application, preliminary plat, final plat or a lot split, or a person submitting a petition for an improvement petition, protest petition, or vacation petition, or the individual or firm requesting consideration of a project by the Site Plan Review Committee. APPROPRIATE: Suitable or fitting in the context of the site, and in the context of the community as a whole.
