VISION TRIANGLE: A triangular area located at the intersection of a street and a driveway ( Vehicle Access Vision Triangle ), or of two streets ( Vision Triangle ), which must be maintained clear of any obstructions which might impede visibility for drivers. 1. VEHICLE ACCESS VISION TRIANGLE: Two triangular areas in a street yard, adjacent to a vehicle access driveway, which must be maintained so as to provide a safe and open line of vision for drivers of vehicles exiting the driveway. See STREET YARD. a. Each vehicle access driveway has 2 vehicle access vision triangles. The 3 points defining the area of each triangle are determined as follows: (1) Start at Point 1 , where the edge of a vehicle access driveway intersects the street right-of-way/ property line. (2) From Point 1, extend a line along the right-of-way line for 25 feet , away from the access drive, to Point 2 . (3) Starting again at Point 1, extend another line for 6 feet away from and perpendicular to the street, to Point 3 . b. Repeat on the other side of the driveway to establish the second vehicle access vision triangle.
