C. Parking Lot Interior Islands. 1. In parking lots of more than 50 space s, divide the lot into sections of 50 to 100 spaces each, with sidewalk islands that provide pedestrian routes to the building entrance. a. Provide a sidewalk island between parking rows in at least every third double-row of parking. (1) A sidewalk island must be 9 feet wide minimum , to allow 2 feet of space for bumper overhang on each side.
b. Every third sidewalk island must be a landscaped sidewalk island, with trees , and must be 20 feet minimum in width.
