ARTour scholarships open to student Da Vincis

Please note that the free space in the Community Calendar is for non- profit groups only, including sports clubs, school groups, and community service agencies. BOURGET Barbottes, beans and macaroni supper, followed by Military whist card games session, May 4, at the Bourget Community Centre, courtesy of the Cheney-Hammond Knights of Columbus. HAMMOND Families are invited to an evening seminar at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School on April 26, 7 p.m. Parenting the Internet Generation: Keeping Our Kids Safe Online is a presentation of the SFX High School Council. Guest speakers include Ka- ren Sparks, an Internet specialist and educator, and OPP Const. Serge Gauthier. NATION The Nation Seniors Group luncheon, April 24, noon, at the South PlantagenetCommunityHall,County Road 9. Cost $9 for members, $11 non- members. All welcome. ORLÉANS ArtEast has its regular monthly Grow with Art meeting April 24, 7:30 p.m., at the Orléans Client Services Centre, room 340, at 255 Centrum Boulevard. Special guest is Louise Michaud, program director with the AOE Arts Council. Free admission and parking. The Guides are holding an e- cycling fair to raise funds for a European field trip in 2013. On April 28 bring any old or used computer equipment, VCRs and DVD players, cellphones,digitalcameras,television sets, and other electronic gear to the Ray Friel Recreation Complex at 1585 Tenth Line Road. The Guides’ e- cycling dropoff site is in the northwest corner of the parking lot. Collection is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ROCKLAND L’Artisanat Sainte-Trinité de Rockland hosts card games session April 21, 7 p.m., at the Bernard- Lapointe Hall in the basement of St-Trinity Church. For seating reservation phone Nicole at 446-5543. Tucker House hosts several special events for spring. First is a co-hosting with Boisés Est of The Therapeutic Effects of Trees on April 21. Next is an evening discussion session May 10, 7 p.m., with Jacinth Laforte, author of City Carbon. A $5 donation is suggested for attendance. The Voyageurs of/de Clarence- Rockland, a bilingual Toastmasters International chapter, hosts an Open House and Demonstration meeting April 24, 7:15 p.m., in the Rockland District High School library. WENDOVER LesChevaliersdeColombdeWendover host their annual catfish supper May 11, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Lucien Delorme Community Centre. Cost $10, with an evening dance to follow. The scholarships are awarded to eligible Grade 12 students in the two counties who are registered for full- time studies in any college or university program for visual arts, photography, graphic, or other media arts in the fall term. Candidates applying for one of the three

scholarships must present five original works of art in the medium of their choice, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, or other media form.
