Diamond Nexus

Many marriages begin with a proposal, a resound- ing “Yes!” and a sparkling diamond ring. Many of those diamonds are formed by Mother Nature and mined from the ground. Diamond Nexus approaches diamonds a bit differently. It doesn’t mine them; it makes them.

In 2004, company CEO and founder Gary La Court stum- bled upon technology to replicate the characteristics of a diamond, according to Kyle Blades, director of marketing at Diamond Nexus. In the last decade, Diamond Nexus has provided stunning stones to more than a quarter of a million brides. “A diamond is made out of pure carbon, and we can now make real diamonds in the lab exactly like the ones that come out of the ground,” Blades explained. “But they require no mining, no blood diamonds. They can actually cost less because they don’t require all of that extra work that goes into getting them out of the ground.” Diamond Nexus recently rolled out a new brand, 1215 Engagement, according to Angela Dittman, office man- ager at Diamond Nexus. Diamond Nexus has a lab in Austin, Texas; a retail pres- ence near Chicago; and its corporate headquarters at St. John Properties’ Franklin Business Center in Franklin, Wisconsin. All of the company’s manufacturing is done domestically, Blades mentioned. “We’re really proud of the fact that we’re able to do that here in the United States and on this property,” he said. A tenant of St. John Properties for about eight years, Dia- mond Nexus leases three bays at Franklin Business Center. “Franklin Business Center has easy access to the express- way. It’s between Milwaukee and our store in Schaumburg, [Illinois],” Dittman explained. “Franklin is a more quiet, safe area, and that’s one of the main reasons we chose it.” The Franklin Business Center space is configured to house Diamond Nexus’s various departments. “It’s kind of a nice dual purpose for us where we can have a really nice office space but then also have the manufacturing and fulfill- ment all at one location,” Blades said. “We just recently hit our third expansion within this property, so it’s been a flexible location.”
