Fixing a small problem before it becomes a bigger issue can make a big difference. HVAC Con- cepts in Frederick, Maryland, helps its clients by detecting problems early, saving businesses money and headaches.
Cory Perdue, a programming manager and partner with HVAC Concepts, explained that not only will the company custom- ize, install and service equipment for commercial clients, but it also provides a monitoring service and automation for that equipment. “If you’re in control of a piece of equipment and are monitoring it, you can recognize if something goes wrong,” he said. “We monitor 24/7, so if something goes wrong with a build- ing in our portfolio, we’ll be able to reach out to the appropriate person immediately.” Perdue said that HVAC Concepts can calculate about a 30 per- cent saving to customers. However, he points out that the sav- ings earned in prevention can’t be quantified. “We can tell if [a piece of equipment] needs service so that it doesn’t do any damage. If we don’t catch that, it could mean thousands of dol- lars in repairs,” he said. Competitors can’t compete with the service and client attention that HVAC Concepts provides. “We’re writing our own programs — every building is custom,” Perdue explained. “We look at the equipment and the building, talk to the owner and then write it. The great thing about monitoring is that it’s an honest way to do business. We’re doing our best to do it right the first time, but we’re making sure it continues to operate the way we expect. In this region, there is no one out there doing what we do with the monitoring.” Similar to HVAC Concepts, St. John Properties was able to provide customization for a space to meet the company’s needs. “One of the things that we really liked is that St. John helped us develop the space,” Perdue pointed out. “We have a lot of moving parts in our staff — 24/7 monitoring and training spaces. It’s been a huge help to our business.”
