ORGANIC COTTON
Cotton is the world’s largest non-food crop . Grown by more than 80 countries its production is concentrated in India, China, US, Brazil, and Pakistan which combined together produce 75% of all world cotton.¹ Cotton is in fact a great material and one of the most used in our collections: it’s soft , comfortable , breathable and hypoallergenic . Despite its presence in nature, the conventional one it’s often not so sustainable: it is grown using chemicals (synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and GMOs) and large quantities of water for irrigation , irreversibly damaging the soil . There are also social impacts, like child and forced labour and exposure to potentially toxic and carcinogenic compounds .
