“Silver tongue” is the nickname given to anyone who is gifted at Speechcraft. The Toastmasters International Club exists to encourage people to become more confident and gifted at speaking in public, and now about a dozen new graduates of the club’s program are in Russell Township. Doug Anthony, Speechcraft men- tor and president of the Russell Kin Club, welcomed Mayor Pierre Le- roux, one of his former Speechcraft students, to help present the latest graduates of the Russell Kin Club- sponsored Speechcraft programwith their award certificates. During his own brief opening remarks, Anthony noted that part of the reason for the Speechcraft pro- gram is to help people becomemore self-confident in public during their everyday lives plus help them enjoy a more enriching vocabulary. “I can astutely tell you we have achieved those results,” Anthony said. “Today, I’mhere to say congratu- lations,” said Mayor Leroux. “Keep your head up high and be proud.”
Receiving their Speechcraft honours this season are: Janice Stewart, StephenThorne, Susan Barr, Robyn Rutherford, Sebastian Rutherford, Samantha McIntosh, Alison Finlayson, Chris Oriwol, Ryan Oriwol, Nicolas Daoust, Maya Desrosiers, and Eric Fillion
