Her award nomi- nator noted that «when the work is done, she goes looking for more to keep her busy» and that «she never complains with themountain of paperwork, and this collaboration helps departments focus on patient care, and that is real teamowrk.» Thompson is a nurse with the medical/ surgical unit and has been described as «a symbol of Canadian health care quality» for her positive and enthusiastic attitude when on the job. Her nominator noted that Thompson «always meets her patients and colleagues with a beautiful and relaxing smile on her face.» Dr. Moussette is cited for care and atten- tion to detail when dealing with her patients. A recent example covered in her award no- mination noted that Dr. Moussette suspected a patient at the WDMH had a rare disorder.

They are among the many high-quality caregivers and health care professionals working at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. This trio in particular receives special recognition for their dedicated service. The Winchester District Memorial Hos- pital (WDMH) has named three of its staff for recognition of their abilities and talents in helping patients at the hospital. They are the latest recipients of the Values Excellence Awards at WDMH.The awards notes actions and skills which demonstrate the hospital’s values of quality, teamwork, compassion and respect. Hospital honours volunteers Winchester District Memorial Hospital administration and staff will take some time on Thursday afternoon to pay special tribute to all the volunteers who help make the regional hospital work as well as it does as a vital health care services centre. The April 16 afternoon event will take place, starting noon hour, at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Chesterville. The two-hour awards appreciation service will include presentation of years of service and auxiliary awards to WDMH volunteers. – Gregg Chamberlain

She shared her findings with a specialist who contacted some of his colleagues around the world on the symptoms.They all confirmed Dr. Moussette’s findings, paving the way for improved treatment for the patient.

Dr. Moussette’s nominator noted that her action did not just help a patient but also allowed for further investigation of the disorder itself, and has contributed to hos- pital policy and procedures for patient care.

A well-known and respected optometrist, Dr. Pierre LeVasseur has decided to retire from his busy practice after 40 years of dedicated eye care to the Eastern Ontario community. The Embrun Optometry team is grateful for his dedication and his guidance over the years. He was a mentor who enriched everyone’s life around him. Dr. LeVasseur’s associates, Dr. Michel Vautour and Dr. Céline Pomainville, will be taking over his practice and will continue to serve all the patients who have been under his care.
