Cumberland. “I found some sweet shoes for my nephew and a bunch of t-shirts for $5. I really like the idea of having moms selling stu" for a reasonable price to other moms. People should do that more often, since we are all on a tight budget this time of the year!” The sale was also an opportunity to help the community and the less fortunate. To enter, visitors had to make a food donation or pay $0.50, which would help the local food bank. “It’s a place of exchange for families who are looking for clothes and toys or a special gift for Christmas,” said Judith Sauvé-Roy. “All the pro!ts from the entry fee will be given to the Vankleek Hill food bank. I was surprised how fast people answered the invitation and how the businesses were wil- ling to come. It’s great and I’m thinking of doing another one downstairs when there’s no ice. We could have a lot more to o"er and accommodate more people.” “It was like a #ea market for moms with some goodies on the side, like scented can- dles,” said Jenny Delson, of Kanata. It’s good for the community spirit and I got some ideas for Christmas.”

In the end, I had to re- fuse !ve people since I didn’t have enough tables and 16 local businesses also joined the event.” A whole lot of toys, used and new, clo- thing for kids, crafts, arts, jewelry and beau- ty products, the reception hall was packed with goodwill and good !nds. “I was watching the hockey tournament downstairs with my kid when someone told me about the sale”, said Christine Lowe, of
