ting in Hawkesbury. “The community has been extremely generous,” said Pierre-Luc Byham, executive director of the HGHF. “We have a CT-Scan, but at some point it is going to need to be replaced.” Since 2006, the HGHF has raised more than $5 million towards the hospital’s $93 million expansion project and the purchase of much needed equipment through its dif- ferent fundraising activities like the radiote- lethon. Some of the equipment purchased through these fundraising events include a portable ultrasound, several foetal moni- tors, the development of a hemodialysis department, and a CT-Scan, to name a few. “45,000 people have used the CT-Scan since it was purchased in 2006,” said Byham. communautaire Le lien
“That’s 45,000 people that did not have to travel to Montreal or Ottawa to get neces- sary diagnostic testing.” Health Care access in rural areas “I want to thank everyone who was involved in the radiotelethon to help us achieve our goal and more,” Byham said. “We want people to know that all kinds of health care services are accessible in rural areas.” Aside from routine hospital care ser- vices, the HGH also o!ers a long list of other services such as mental health and addic- tion, assisted living, dental and oral surgery, crisis intervention and in-home chemothe- rapy.
