as well as Berlin and St Petersburg. He was possessed of an individual name (many boys were quite happy to believe that his middle initials of W.C. stood for Winston Churchill) and a strong sense that the History of England walked with you. When you were taught by him, you had a clear sense that this was a subject that mattered and had significance. He became Head of History in 2009 and under his careful leadership the department continued to flourish. He also established Politics as an A-level subject, taking boys to the Palace of Westminster. It is probably fair to say that during his leadership of the History Society it achieved a seminal position in the lives of a number of boys at the College, and this is, at least in part, down to Titus’ own individual imprint. In one discussion, ‘When would you have liked to have lived?’ Titus allowed the boys to give their own choices and then explain his own (a C18 English Squire). Beyond the department, Titus led a cricket team and performed as a Policeman in The Pirates of Penzance . He leaves the College to return to his Alma Mater, Gordonstoun and will bring to his new post all the qualities that he demonstrated so evidently here at Dulwich: loyalty, humour, fair play and that sense of the importance of history. We wish him, Marina, Isabel, Tristan and Alexander all the best of good fortune. culture and quirks of Dulwich. In the classroom, her insistence on the highest of standards of both behaviour and work from her students meant that her pupils always knew where they stood and the vast majority raised their game accordingly. She was also more than willing to be involved in the co-curricular life of the department, making weekly contributions to the Biology Society and accompanying various trips and outings. She leaves us to take up the post of Coordinator of Science at Chobham Academy, a new school located in the former Olympic Park and much closer to her current home in East London. We wish her all the very best for what I am sure will be a highly successful future.

Titus Edge Titus Edge arrived to teach History at Dulwich College in the last term of the 20th-century following a maternity cover post at City of London School for Boys. In his letter of application he referred to his use of a Norman helmet to enthuse his teaching of the Invasion of England in 1066, and it was quickly apparent to all in the department that here was a teacher who had a strong sense of history; something that he imparted to the many boys who were fortunate enough to be taught by him. He threw himself into his teaching with relish and quickly became a key member of the department, leading trips to the Great War battlefields and supporting the various departmental expeditions to the Field Centre for the Sixth Form Reading Party
