The Alleynian 702 2014

Suzie joined the staff of the College as a Library Assistant in the Wodehouse Library in September 2001 following a career in publishing, architectural practice and a break for raising her two sons (both now Old Alleynians). It quickly became apparent that she had an aptitude and enthusiasm for Librarianship that would enable her to take on a more senior role in the Library and she began an MA in Library and Information Studies at University College London in September 2003. On completion of this course (with a Distinction) she was promoted to Assistant Librarian in January 2006. Over the course of the past 11 years, Suzie has played a significant role in the management of the Wodehouse Library, particularly with the organisation of the Periodicals and online resources. She has also contributed to our teaching of information skills in Well-Being lessons as well as leading Library-based lessons in English, History and Geography, guiding many pupils through the resources needed to complete their projects and helping to find even the most hardened non-reader a book that even they might begrudgingly say they enjoyed. She has left us to pursue a family business venture and we all wish her and her family the best for the future.

Will’s contribution to College life has extended way beyond the classroom in many directions. A keen rower, he has coached Dulwich boys of all ages culminating in the Second Eight +. In 2010, he was elected Secretary to the Common Room and exhibited the strong organisational skills and tact that the role demands. He has also been an integral part of the boarding community, firstly as a visiting House Tutor to Orchard and then, in 2011, being promoted to Residential tutor. Having bought a house in the leafy suburbs of Surrey, a professional move south seemed a likely next step. It was therefore no great surprise when Will was appointed to Head of Biology at Epsom College. We are extremely sorry to see him go.

Will Keat

Will joined the Biology department as a graduate in September 2004. As an Old Alleynian, Will was already tuned in to the Dulwich way of doing things, but it soon became apparent that he was also a talented and dedicated teacher. As a biologist he showed a keen and demonstrable interest in the natural world, but also made a concerted effort to keep abreast of recent academic developments in the discipline. As a consequence, his teaching
