The Optimist Club of Hammond, assisted by several dedicated volunteers, organized their second annual soccer league, which drew 120 kids and their parents to the Alphonse-Carrière Park on August 22. There, they celebrated the end of the season with free hot dogs and drinks. The league charges families $20 to enroll their child, a price which, according to the club’s president, makes the experience affordable to all.
