The Estate needs to support the University’s standing as an ambitious and research intensive Russell Group institution and contains a wide range of research, teaching and learning facilities in addition to student residences and recreational space.

The post holder will be a member of the Estates and Facilities Senior Management Team.

Job Purpose

Queen Mary University of London has published an exciting and ambitious new strategy to become a “Research Goliath” by 2030. To this end the total number of global students will double over this period. London campus based students will increase to over 30,000 students from the current level of just below 20,000. The careful and timely development of the London Estate is a critical and strategic enabler. Given the scale of the Estates development challenges, there is a need to further invest in our ability to design and deliver large scale investment programmes at quality and pace. Over the strategy term, the core capital programme is planned to be in excess of £0.5Bn plus 3rd party funded projects delivered with long term development partners. A second Assistant Director of Estates and Facilities (Strategic & Capital Development) is now needed to ensure the highest levels of senior stakeholder engagement and robust programme/ project delivery. The post holder will act as the professional lead for the University’s Estate Master Plan and will lead the management of the strategic development and capital programme. Although there will need to be portfolio flexibility, the current investment programme will be broadly divided along the following stakeholder/ campus boundaries: 1)Mile End campus investment programme with a strong senior stakeholder focus across the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences (H&SS) and Science and Engineering (S&E) 2)Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square campus investment programme with a strong stakeholder focus across the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry

The new post holder will mainly focus on the Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square investment programme.
