Rotary Gutter Cleaning System Operator Manual (GS900)

Thank you for purchasing the GutterSweep™ Rotary Gutter Cleaning System. Please follow the important safeguards and operating instructions included within this manual to enjoy the benefits and safe operation of the GutterSweep™.

The GutterSweep™ utilizes a combination of both rotary and non-rotary cleaning tools specially designed to remove all types of debris commonly found in gutters. It’s easy to use, lightweight, and works with any cordless drill and garden hose.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

• Read all safety information and operating instructions before use. • All warnings in the Operator Manual must be strictly adhered to. • Failure to comply with safety and operating instructions may result in property damage or personal injury. • Retain this Operator Manual for future use. • Not all gutters can be cleaned from the ground level. In some cases, gutter openings may be too narrow or the debris may be too compacted to be removed with GutterSweep™ tools. In these extreme cases, it may be necessary to use another means of gutter cleaning. Always consider hiring a professional gutter cleaning service should the situation warrant it.

WARNING: HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK OR BURN!

The extension poles and all other parts of the GutterSweep™ Rotary Gutter Cleaning System or Extension Kit are NOT to be used ON or NEAR electrical wiring of any type. Keep at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from any power lines. Use extreme caution when raising, lowering, or while working with the GutterSweep™ tools and extensions.

IMPORTANT TIPS

• Always wear eye protection. • Keep all loose clothing and objects tucked in to prevent them from being tangled around the rotating cordless drill and tools. • Set the clutch/torque adjustment on the cordless drill to a half-way point to reduce the risk of personal injury, or damage to the tool and the gutter system. • Do not attempt to use the tool if you cannot safely and effectively control the operation of the tool. This is especially important when the tool is used for higher reaching applications such as 2nd story gutter cleaning, etc.

ROTARY GUTTER CLEANING: ASSESS DEBRIS BUILD-UP

Use the GUTTER BRUSH WITH WATER JET NOZZLE attachment to drag and lift the debris up and out of the gutter. Determining what type of build-up is inside the gutter will help you choose the best GutterSweep™ attachment to use for the job. If your gutters haven’t been cleaned in a while, it’s likely the debris build-up is very compact, similar to compost. It’s recommended that you drag and lift this type of debris out before using the ROTARY PADDLE BRUSH for routine maintenance throughout the year. GutterSweep’s™ Rotary Gutter Cleaning System makes it fast and easy to maintain your gutters on a regular basis!

For easier clean up, place a tarp on the ground under the gutter while assessing debris and cleaning gutters. The debris can also be raked up afterwards.

ROTARY GUTTER CLEANING: REMOVE + RINSE

1

CLEANING WITH THE ROTARY PADDLE BRUSH The ROTARY PADDLE BRUSH is great for removing dry, loose leaves. While spinning with your cordless drill, the paddles lift debris up and out of the gutter. NOTE: ALWAYS SPIN THE PADDLE BRUSH “AWAY” FROM THE ROOF • When working from “Right to Left” spin your cordless drill in a counter clockwise direction // drill in reverse. • When working from “Left to Right” spin your cordless drill in a clockwise direction // drill forward. HANDLING GUTTER SUPPORTS Once you reach a gutter support, clean completely under the support until the curved tube makes contact with the gutter support. Then pull the ROTARY PADDLE BRUSH back slightly and lift up and over gutter support. Lower the paddle brush back into the gutter and continue cleaning.

DEBRIS CLEAN-UP Collect debris on a tarp and dispose. It’s best to clean the ground area before rinsing the gutter clean with water.

4

RINSING THE GUTTER Remove the CORDLESS DRILL and DRILL ADAPTER from the ROTARY DRIVE EXTENSION POLE and attach the HOSE ADAPTER WATER CONTROL VALVE and garden hose. Attach the GUTTER BRUSH WITH WATER JET NOZZLE tool. Turn on the water and use the GUTTER BRUSH WITH WATER JET NOZZLE to rinse the inside and outside of the gutter clean. PRO TIPS • On windy days, work in the same direction as the wind. This will prevent leaves from blowing toward you as you work. • Angle the rotary gear assembly slightly away from you while rotary cleaning to help prevent debris from falling toward you.

CONNECT THE POLES Connect and hand-tighten as many interlocking ROTARY DRIVE EXTENSION POLES as needed to reach desired gutter height. A 6 ft. Extension Kit is available and sold separately (Part Number: GSX906). ATTACH THE BRUSH Attach the GUTTER BRUSH WITH WATER JET NOZZLE to the curved tube section at an angle and direction best suited for your cleaning method. FLIP THE GRIP Install the GRIP HANDLE at the very bottom of the base pole section facing “up”. This gives you much more control as you apply a twisting motion while lifting the debris up and out of the gutter. CLEAN THE GUTTERS It’s recommended that you start cleaning the gutter from the down spout end and drag debris away from the downspout. This helps prevent excessive debris from falling into the downspout. As you drag the GUTTER BRUSH WITH WATER JET NOZZLE down the gutter, stop occasionally to remove the debris. Remove debris by tilting the tool slightly and pushing into the debris as you lift the debris up and out of the gutter. Twist the pole while lifting the debris away from the gutter. HANDLING GUTTER SUPPORTS Once you reach a gutter support, lift as much debris out of the gutter as possible and then push remaining debris under and past the support. Pull the GUTTER BRUSH WITH WATER JET NOZZLE back slightly and lift up and over gutter support. While lowering back into the gutter, angle the brush back under the support to grab debris. Continue the drag and lift process.
