Single largest donation for St. Lawrence College

The Joyce Foundation recently announced a $2-million donation to St. Lawrence Col- lege to establish The Joyce Foundation Ed Lumley Bursary. The Foundation made the gift in recognition of The Honourable Ed Lumley, a nationally recognized busi- nessman, politician and member of the Order of Canada. Lumley is a Trustee on The Joyce Foundation Board and friend of Ron Joyce. “For some students, the opportunity to go to college is a challenge because of the many barriers they face.” “For some students, the opportunity to go to college is a challenge because of the many barriers they face. It is the single largest donation the col- lege has ever received. The funds will be used to create an endowed bursary fund for students who reside in the three com- munities and counties surrounding St. Law- rence College’s campuses. Bursaries may

Three local men charged with possession

McGill Bouchard, 38, Bryan Archer, 40, and Anthony Marini, 23, all from Cornwall, were arrested on January 23 and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of ec- stasy and possession for the purpose of trafficking. It is alleged that on January 23, members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a drug warrant at an Alice Street address and located a quantity of marijua- na, ecstasy and methamphetamine pills. The three men were taken into custody and charged accordingly. Bouchard was also charged with property obtained by crime (Canadian Currency) and breach of his probation order for being in possession of drugs and for failing to keep the peace. He was held in custody for a bail hearing while Archer, who was also charged with breach- ing his probation order for failing to keep the peace, and Marini were released to ap- pear in court on March 10.
