The right Site Engineer– on your Side and on your Team –can make ALL the difference! Owners and developers, real estate professionals, architects, construction managers, and engineers have come to trust Landmark Science & Engineering for their multidisciplinary capabilities, knowledgeable staff and innovative solutions for today’s complex site design issues and regulatory environment. Landmark Success Stories Innovative Stormwater Pond Retrofit: When Sallie Mae decided to replace their small, 1990’s era stormwater retention pond with high-end recreational amenities that would help attract skilled employees to their new Corporate Headquarters, they learned about the complexities of meeting Delaware’s stringent stormwater regulations—even while under construction in the same location. But Landmark engineers and scientists were able to design innovative methods to manage the flow of stormwater during construction. The result is a stormwater management pond that doubles as a recreational amenity, with a walking path and exercise stations that travere a 96-foot wide, 6-foot high waterfall, with wildlife viewing and picnic areas. The owner was extremely happy with the final outcome of this award winning project. Wetland Creation: When a development project is at risk due to the potential presence of wetlands, forest, or rare and endangered species (such as bog tur- tles), developers, owners and engineers call Landmark. To help Marvel Plaza retail center project move forward, environmental staff helped with wetland and forest delinieation, which led to a wetland mitigation plan for creation of a new palus- trine forested wetland located offsite at University of Delaware’s Ecology Woods in Newark. This solution was a WIN-WIN for the developer, Fusco Management, and the University of Delaware who will also use the wetland for educational purposes.
