Sympathies

By Rona Erickson, CDOA

NADOA’s long standing mainstay of the Institute Goody Bags Committee, Sharon Baugh, passed away in Houston, TX on May 20, 2020, just days shy of her 80th birthday. As the self-proclaimed “Bag Lady” of NADOA, Sharon was a pro at obtaining donations, choosing the goody bag, overseeing the stuffing of the bags and handing out bags at Institute registration. Sharon was always willing to help and ready to enjoy the sites of each Institute city. Sharon and I walked many miles together in different cities. She often regaled us with stories of her husband, Fred, and her children and grandchildren. Sharon served on the NADOA board for a number of years: as a Director in 1997 and 1998, Recording Secretary in 1999, Corresponding Secretary in 2000, and again as a Director in 2001 and 2002. We all lost count of the number of times Sharon chaired the Institute Goody Bag Committee. Sharon was the proud recipient of the NADOA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Memories: Sharon was very proud of her responsibility as the “bag lady” at Institutes and ensured that the goody items were distributed to the attendees to maximize exposure of the items donated by the sponsors. - Noemi Peralta, CDOA, CPLTA 2011 NADOA President

Sharon was so dedicated to her job as bag lady, there were years she could barely walk but she faithfully worked until the last bag was filled before she had her glass of white zinfandel and sat down to relax! She also made sure surplus bags were sent back with local representatives to be distributed to their membership. - Judy Moreland, CDOA, CPLTA 2008 NADOA President Sharon’s career in Division Orders spanned many years and she worked for a variety of companies, including Panhandle Eastern, Premier Land Services, Medallion Oil Company, Coastal Oil & Gas, El Paso Production Company, Rosetta Resources and she also put in a few stints as an independent consultant. Sharon worked at EXCO Resources from 2011 to 2014, at which time she decided to embark on the new adventure of retirement. Upon retiring from Division Orders, she enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. Sharon will be greatly missed by her many friends in NADOA.

Special thanks to Norma Dooley and Noemi Peralta for contributing pictures of Sharon.
