Dear Educators, At Root Literacy Design, we believe in the power of teachers. Our mission is to empower educators with the evidence-based tools and practices they need so all students learn to read and write. As a current literacy coach, I am constantly on the ground seeing what's missing. Time and again, teachers look at me and say, "Heather, I wish I had..." If that instructional tool doesn’t exist yet in the world to fill that gap, I build it. The resources in this catalog don't just go straight to our store. I spend 6 to 12 months trialing each tool across Tiers 1, 2, and 3—testing them in whole classrooms, small groups, and individual pull-out settings alongside fellow active educators at The Compass School. We fix and refine them based on real-time feedback before they hit the shelves, so you can feel completely confident they turn reading research into student success. Rooted in the Science of Reading, our materials strengthen any curriculum and support a Structured Literacy approach. We intentionally design our K–12 tools to look mature and engaging—never "babyish"—ensuring older students can fill critical skill gaps with total dignity. I know firsthand how tight school budgets are, and my goal is simply to get these amazing tools into your hands. That’s why we host a Quarterly Literacy Grant, selecting ten unique winners each quarter to receive up to $100 of their chosen wishlist products ( Apply Here ).
