T HE 50TH DEMA SHOW is now just two months away. With dozens of DEMA-sponsored educational seminars and hundreds by dive-related companies slated between November 2 to 6 for the 7,000+ attendees, how can dive pros like you best use these seminars to your advantage? It’s a daunting task. So to help optimize your week, I polled a half-dozen DEMA experts. Cathryn Castle Garcia , a DEMA-veteran of 30+ shows and owner of Clear Story Coach, provided this strategic advice: “I encourage DEMA attendees to consider DEMA as the ultimate scuba training opportunity. We all know to plan our dives in advance, right? What if you do the same with attending the DEMA show? This includes signing up for the DEMA Educational Package and planning to attend sessions aimed at helping you grow your dive business. “Start by assessing the current state of your business,
focusing on areas that need your attention – like increasing customer retention, refreshing your website, or growing your travel program. Next, use the DEMA Show mobile app for planning your seminar schedule. Having a goal and a solid plan will help ensure you get the most out of DEMA. Lastly, make a point to engage with presenters and ask questions. We’re only standing at the front of the room because we’re passionate about the diving industry and gen- uinely want to help you succeed.” Three of her DEMA-sponsored seminars on November 5th are: “Success Stories: A Look at What Dive Businesses Have Done Right,” “Going Gonzo: How Unconventional Marketing Can Grow Your Business,” and “Your Website’s Not About You: The Website Edit That Makes You More Money.” A fourth, titled “Instead of Selling Scuba, Start Marketing Magic: Aquatic Experiences as Your Next Profit
