Joanna Gill Six Records of a Floating Life by Shen Fu. It’s an autobiography by someone who lived during the Qing Dynasty in China. It’s a fascinating insight, using very intimate and personal stories, into this period in Chinese history.

Avery Bernett Revolution Songs by Carissa Halton. A communist union fights for coal mine workers’ rights in southern Alberta, while the Ku Klux Klan is also looking for new members. Set in the 1930s, the sense of desperation is brewing. I’m captivated while learning so much about Alberta history!

Tricia D. Campbell Radically Wild by Scott Sunderwald. I just started reading it. The author is from Hinton. He teaches outdoor education and wilder- ness survival.

Dennis Pratt The Dog Stars by Peter Heller. A story of a man and his dog fighting for their lives in a post-apocalyptic world. A pandemic and a disease have wiped out most of the people in the world. Who lives and who dies? I’m dying to know.
