ensure the community is aware of the Port’s activities. The Portof Stockton has maintained “Green Port” status for a decade — I believe that speaks for itself regarding community aware- ness and sustainability. I foresee no change in the Port’s position. The book is wide open on technology advances, particularly Al, which will surely be interesting.
I’m in the middle of my second four- year term, and it’s been immensely rewarding. I sense the importance of the Port in our community and it’s truly rewarding to have a governance role. It’s gratifying to have an influen- cer role for such an important entity. I’d suggest any business leaders with strategic experience to consider apply- ing for the Port Commission.
In my mind, aging infrastructure is the boogeyman, the demand is continu- ous and a seemingly never-ending issue. We’re heavily dependent on federal infrastructure grants to maintain our channel, docks, rail and other critical amenities. We operate in a State that seems to continually implement rules impacting business entities, the cumu- lative impact is extremely burdensome.
