ZU Zeta Upsilon Celebrates 45 Years at UNT

O n the weekend of November 9 th -11 th , over 100 Kappa men convened on the campus of the University of North Texas (UNT) located in Denton, Texas for its homecoming weekend. The local under- graduate chapter, Zeta Upsilon, used the homecoming weekend to celebrate the 45 th anniversary of the chapter’s charter- ing. The chapter anniversary was the primary reason many Zeta Upsilon initi- ates, who had not returned to campus in decades, attended homecoming includ- ing to renew contact with other Zeta Upsilon initiates and to meet the newest Zeta Upsilon initiates, Fall 2016 line, who currently comprise the chapter. The pinnacle of the weekend’s activi- ties was the first activity of the weekend. On Thursday evening, the university and its alumni association held its annual Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards. One of the night’s honorees was Brother Elliotté Dunlap (Zeta Up- silon 1996), a 1997 UNT graduate, who was presented with the Outstanding Alumni Service Award. Brother Dun- lap, who is a Senior Enterprise Partner Solution Sales Executive at Microsoft in Dallas, was recognized for his leader-

ship and stewardship of an on-campus program entitled A Few Good Men. Sponsored by the UNT Multicultural Center, A Few Good Men is a mentor- ing program that pairs African American UNT students with high ranking African American business leaders in various Fortune 500 companies. UNT alumni, along with Brother Dunlap, mentor the students on how to be strategic and tactical in their respective professional and personal development endeavors. Dunlap and the program co-founders aid program attendees toward getting men-

university officials and Brother Dunlap’s family, colleagues, and friends. This is not the first time the university has honored Brother Dunlap. In 2014, school recognized his efforts, along with fellow Zeta Upsilon initiates, Brothers Casey Thomas (Zeta Upsilon 1992) and James Guillory (Zeta Upsilon 1996) for their efforts as students in the early 1990s to establish the school’s Multicul- tural Center which today serves nearly 2,000 per month via its various programs and support services.
