program; therefore, no students may be enrolled in professional/technical courses until Candidate for Accreditation status has been achieved. Further, though achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status signifies satisfactory progress toward accreditation, it does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation. The program plans to admit students in Spring 2028 if candidacy status is achieved. The program will require 15 prerequisite credit hours which may be taken at the SWOSU Weatherford and/or Sayre campus. Course transfer from other educational institutions will be considered upon program application. After acceptance into the program, the student will complete 51 general education/professional didactic, laboratory, and clinical hours at SWOSU. Prerequisite requirements and application information may be obtained from the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Radiologic Technology (X-ray) Christopher Stufflebean - Program Director/Advisor Joseph Robinson - Advisor Acceptance into the program is based upon grade-point averages, interviews, transcripts, and other evidence of potential for success in the program. Students must complete the course of study with a 2.0 GPA. The radiologic technology program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University is accredited by the national accrediting agency, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Carrie Atkinson - Program Director/Advisor Dr. Michael Baker –Advisor

Following completion of the MLT program, the student is eligible to sit for the American Medical Technologists’ (AMT) MLT and/or the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) MLT certification exams. The medical Laboratory technician training program is currently in serious candidate status with the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory (NAACLS). TRADITIONAL AND HYRID PROGRAM FORMATS AVAILABLE Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Dr. Brandy Chase – OTA/PTA Program Coordinator/Advisor Malissia Guthrie – Program Director Prerequisite courses are taken at the SWOSU Weatherford and/or Sayre campus. A grade of “C” or better must be attained in all prerequisite coursework in order to be eligible to apply. Course transfer from other educational institutions will be considered upon program application. Specialty courses are taken at CKTC. The program is accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association. Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Dr. Brandy Chase – OTA/PTA Program Coordinator/Advisor Brent Grimes – Program Director – 1+1 Accelerated Program Jy Bass - Program Director/Advisor – 2yr Program Prerequisite courses are taken at the SWOSU Weatherford and/or Sayre campus. A grade of “C” or better must be attained in all prerequisite coursework in order to be eligible to apply. Course transfer from other educational institutions will be considered upon program application. There are two PTA programs at SWOSU: The accelerated 1+1 program specialty courses are taken at CKTC. The accelerated 1+1 program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE); The two-year traditional program will be located on the SWOSU Weatherford campus and currently is seeking accreditation of a from CAPTE. The program is planning to submit an Application for Candidacy, which is the formal application required in the pre-accreditation stage, on Nov 1, 2026. Submission of this document does not assure that the program will be granted Candidate for Accreditation status. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status is required prior to implementation of the professional/technical phase of the

The program is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as Surgical Technologists, playing a crucial role in operating rooms across Oklahoma. The SWOSU Surgical Technology Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines online didactic learning with hands-on laboratory and clinical experiences. The Surgical Technology Program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University has a site visit scheduled for pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org). This step in the process is neither a status of accreditation nor a guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
