In the two years since the agency was created, it has served 550 clients, manager Simon Leclerc said at a recent Grenville-sur- la-Rouge council meeting. The organization’s 35 workers have pro- vided 23,000 hours of service and have trav- elled 28,000 kilometres. While the agency can help a board spec- trum of the community, elderly people rep- resent about 72 per cent of the clientele. Eligible clients can receive financial assis- tance, which includes a basic sum of $4 per hour of service provided, and can reach $7, depending on the individual’s income and family situation. business should be. A good night – in a good place. I just can’t wait for these shows.” He adds: “For years I have been out on the road. I have been playing to people all over the world and for those few weeks a year, when I was able to get home from wher- ever I was, I would drive past a legion or a community hall somewhere in Ontario and think – ‘Why not play these halls? Why not play for these people?’” The Legion’s work includes not only veteran services but also much needed local support throughout the community; to schools, food banks, churches and families affected by loss or other circumstances. “
