Jewelry & Body Art Policy 1. Wedding rings and engagement rings are permitted in the clinical setting. 2. No additional rings are permitted on the hand(s) during clinical duty. 3. Wedding bands only in the obstetrical area. 4. Earrings and facial jewelry must be small hoops, plain, no larger than dime-sized, or small, post-type earrings. No dangle-type earrings are allowed.

5. Bracelets and necklaces will not be worn with the clinical uniform. 6. Based on professional nursing standards visible tattoos that contain words or graphics that depict violence, are sexually explicit, racially or ethnically demeaning, offensive to the general public, promote substance abuse, or contain profanity must be covered during clinical and lab.

CLINICAL CONFERENCES

Clinical Pre-Conferences Students must attend clinical pre- and post-conference to receive clinical attendance. Day Shift Clinicals – Each clinical instructor will pre-determine where to meet at the assigned clinical partner site. Arrive promptly at the beginning of each clinical shift. This is a time to ask questions and give initial information about your learning needs. Notify the clinical instructor of any procedures you may need assistance completing. Keep reference books nearby, in order to access when needed. Each student is responsible for any and all information covered during pre-conference, even if late or absent. Participation in pre-conference is essential for success. Evening Shift Clinicals – Each clinical instructor will pre- determine where to meet at the assigned clinical partner site. Arrive promptly at the beginning of each clinical shift. Pre- and post-conferences are combined due to the late hour of dismissal. All clinical activities (case studies, shift reports, group activities) will be completed and/or discussed during this time. Each student is responsible for any and all information covered during pre-conference, even if late or absent. The clinical instructor can only dismiss the group after all students are in attendance. Organizing oneself enough to end a clinical shift on time is essential for success. Participation in conference is essential for success.

Clinical Post-Conference Day Shift Clinicals –Each clinical instructor will pre-determine where to meet at our clinical partner site. Arrive promptly at the pre-scheduled post-conference time and place. Organizing oneself enough to end a clinical shift on time is essential for success. It is a must for students to plan and complete work, in order to report to post-conference. Shift reports, class discussions, and other learning activities are held during this time. Each student is responsible for any and all information covered during post-conference, even if late or absent. Participation in post-conference is essential for success. Evening and Night Shift Clinicals – See Evening and Night Shift This evaluation will be completed by each clinical group in one of the final pre-or post- conferences of each term. This evaluation is intended to provide feedback to the clinical facility regarding student learning opportunities, staff relationships, and etc. Individual Conference The conference for your final evaluation is the only scheduled individual conference, which is part of each course and clinical. If a student’s overall performance falls below a 2.0 during the course or below satisfactory during the clinical, the student will be notified, complete a Clinical Incident Report (CIR), send/ hand in for review by the involved instructor(s) and the Nursing Department Chair, and an individual conference scheduled.
