Physical 1. Report job-related injuries to the supervisor or safety officer IMMEDIATELY. Team leaders are responsible for notifying the safety officer in the event of any safety hazard or job-related injury. 2. If foreign substances spray into the eyes or on the skin, flush with lots of water for at least ten (10) minutes. Then seek medical attention immediately. 3. While cleaning, be sure that you can see what you are doing. Do not reach into hidden places with your bare hands. 4. NEVER reach into a wastebasket to empty it. There may be sharp objects in the trash that could cause you to cut yourself. 5. Wear gloves when you feel you are at risk. Make sure the gloves are appropriate for the task. Neoprene gloves provide the best protection from strong substances. MOLLY MAID approved cleaning products do not require the use of gloves. 6. Report defective or missing items such as loose floor coverings, loose stair treads, loose door handles, malfunctioning light-fixtures, dresser knobs, worn wiring, burned-out bulbs, leaky faucets, etc. 7. LIFT WITH YOUR ARMS AND LEGS, not your back. 8. DO NOT CLIMB or get into awkward positions that could result in a fall, injury, or damage to property. 9. STAY ALERT! Watch what you are doing and where you are going, especially when moving through doorways, around corners, into hallways, and on stairs. 10. NO “HORSEPLAY,” running, or throwing objects. These are common causes of serious accidents and injuries. 11. AVOID OBVIOUS HAZARDS. Do not clean or handle weapons, pet feces, soiled linens, etc. 12. SLOW DOWN and take short steps when you are on slippery surfaces (wet floors, snow, icy sidewalks, etc.) 4.13 Specific Workplace Hazards Poor illumination- Always turn on all the lights in a room when working, and turn them off when everything in the room has been finished. Impaired vision- When driving store equipment carefully so that it does not block your vision especially when backing up. Make sure that windows are free of ice, snow, frost and condensation so that you have good vision in all directions. Slipping- You must always place a safety bath mat into showers or tubs before entering. Never walk on wet surfaces. If you must do so, take small steps and go very slowly. Tripping and falling- Always know where your equipment and cords are, especially on stairs. Always keep equipment in front of you on stairs. Never run cords across hallways or
