8. USE SAFETY GLASSES when doing work potentially hazardous to eyes or when indicated by SDS sheets. 9. If there is an accident with chemicals, refer to the Safety Data Sheets provided in each route binder as a guide for first aid. 10. NEVER store cleaning supplies or equipment on stairs. 11. NEVER place supplies on top of cabinets, counters, tables, or shelves Cleaning Equipment 1. Report defective equipment, unsafe conditions, unsafe actions, or safety hazards to the team leader and/or safety officer. 2. All equipment and supplies must be properly handled, stored, and maintained. Customer appliances and cleaning products shall not be used unless so indicated on the estimate of service. 3. Ask for instructions before using any equipment or supplies with which you are not entirely familiar. 4. Keep vacuums, mops, buckets, and other equipment out of hallways and doorways, except when cleaning those areas. 5. Wheel vacuums slowly. 6. When vacuuming down stairways, plug the vacuum in upstairs so the cord is always in front of you. Place the canister part of the vacuum one step above where you are standing and steady it with your knees. Move yourself and the vacuum down one step at a time. If the canister is small and light, hold it in one hand while vacuuming with the other. Electrical 1. DO NOT wipe hot electric light bulbs. 2. DO NOT tamper with electrical cords, fixtures, etc. while power is on. 3. DO NOT handle electrical equipment with wet hands. 4. DO NOT yank out power cords. Pull them out gently by the plug, after switching off equipment. 5. DO NOT use extension cords. 6. A TINGLING SENSATION when touching an object means an electrical hazard exists.
