RIT, Prime Line Become SGP Resource Partners

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), School of Media Sciences (SMS) has joined The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) Community as a SGP Resource Partner. SGP Resource Partners are reportedly sustainability subject matter experts who insure that the printing industry is empowered with on-target and current thinking. SGP Resource Partners include a diverse group of organizations, from industry trade associa- tions to educational institutions and NGOs, all striv- ing to provide information and resources to help create a more sustainable print industry. RIT has on-going and comprehensive research and academic initiatives in sustainability and many tie into the printing industry. Sustainability is one of the four priorities of learning outcomes for the school’s under- graduate program.The topic of sustainability as it relates to print and new media is covered in multiple ways through the SMS undergraduate and graduate curricula. This semester, a course entitled Sustainability in the Graphic Arts was developed and will be taught by former SGP Board Member SteveWhittaker. Prime Line Packaging, Edison, New Jersey, has joined SGP at the platinum level. Prime Line Packag- ing is a third-generation family-owned business with more than 60 years of experience in custom printed and designed packaging. TLMI Announces 2016-2017 Scholarship Program Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) has an- nounced the details of its 2016-2017 Scholarship Pro- gram. There are multiple $1,000 scholarships (for 2-year college students), and $5,000 scholarships (for 4-year college students) that will be awarded to ex- ceptional applicants. Scholar ship selection is based on: academic achievement, character, a demonstrated interest in the industry, a statement of goals, and a recommenda- tion from the applicant’s employer. Inland Honored For Brand Marketing PAC, Packaging Consortium, has awarded La Crosse, Wisconsin-based label manufacturer Inland two Sil- ver Awards in the 2016 Global Leadership Awards. The annual awards competition showcases leader- ship in new brand packages, brand revitalization, and packaging innovation.
