STUDENTS IN THE HYPE 2.0 INITIATIVE
TPT Builds Partnerships
Over the last year, TPT partnered with educators, parents/caregivers, and community leaders to develop and implement enriching programming for all ages/life stages, including:
TPT LITTLE LEARNERS (PRE-K-2) This program trained and supported educators at daycares, preschools, and community support programs to integrate PBS KIDS SM media and resources in their existing programming in tangible, measurable, and sustainable ways. TPT LEARN ACADEMIES (GRADES 3-8) Now in its eighth year, this program provided after- school educators with practice-based training around STEM instruction, media-making, role modeling, and equity topics. In partnership with Beacons afterschool program, the YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs, and metro- area libraries, TPT supported educators in implementing media-enriched activities with their youth. Additionally, TPT partnered with Saint Paul Parks and Recreation to provide hands-on summertime events in 11 locations to combat summer slide. HYPE 2.0 (GRADES 9-12) Based on a popular TPT program from the 1990s, this updated initiative combined role modeling, media literacy, and hands-on technical and creative skills to help diverse high-school students develop storytelling skill sets and uplift their voices across multiple platforms.
In addition to programming, TPT Learn developed standards-based activities and resources aligned with TPT-produced media that reached a national audience of over 2.5 million educators on PBS Learning Media. Throughout their work, TPT Learn relied on program evaluation and consultation with an advisory board to best respond to community needs, support already thriving community programs, and drive ongoing improvement in TPT’s media and resource production. Little Learners held 4 metro-area library events with 400 children and caregivers in attendance. 3,000 resource kits were distributed to an additional 8 library systems. » TPT Learn Academies trained 100+ educators and engaged over 8,000 students and parents/caregivers, resulting in 30+ hours of STEM learning per child. » Over 90% of children participating in the TPT Learn Academies showed increased knowledge, self-efficacy, and appetite for STEM learning.
