Hawkesbury no longer has the highest- paid firefighters in the province.That’s one highlight of the annual Ontario Sunshine Report this year. The annual public information report details provincial and municipal staff who make more than $100,000 as their annual salary. This year Hawkesbury’s fire depart- ment just has three names on the list with department captains Yves Berniquez, Daniel Gascon, and Michel Poulin, who each re- ceive salaries above $100,000. Hawkesbury has three other names on this year’s list: Chief Building Official Jean- Claude Miner, Martin Perron, the town’s waterworks manager, Richard Guertin, wa- ter services superintendent, and Treasurer Philippe Timbers. Hawkesbury East Township treasurer Lin- da Rozon and Champlain Township’s chief administrator/treasurer Paula Knudsen are on the list. FromAlfred-Plantagenet Town- ship, chief administrator Marc Daigneault and public works director RochHébert made the list. Stéphane Parisien, chief administrator for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell is on the list along with some 20 colleagues. Hélène Fournier, Valoris director-general , is also listed along with 20 other Valoris em- ployees. Marc Leboutillier, general manager for Hawkesbury General Hospital, is also listed as well as some 40 other hospital per- sonnel members. Des résidents locaux s’unissent pour nettoyer des rivages

Les Gardiens de la rivière des Outaouais prêteront main-forte à la lutte contre les déchets riverains en procédant au nettoyage du ruisseau de Hawkesbury. Les gens intéressés à venir en aide à Louis Lafontaine, fondateur de l’évènement, pourront se rendre à l’arrière de l’Église United, au coin Main et McGill, à 9 h le 22 avril prochain. Des gants de travail, des gants de latex, des sacs à ordures et des ceintures de sauvetage seront à la disposition des participants. Un barbecue de remerciement sera offert à la suite de l’activité. M. Lafontaine en est à sa 51e édition et à chaque année, de plus en plus de gens se joignent à son initiative.
