UCDSB officials received notice from the Terry Fox Foundation about the results of last year’s Terry Fox Run fundraising total for the entire school district. Together, over the past several years, all the elementary and secondary schools in the UCDSB have raised a combined total of $1,437,006. The UCPR planning and forestry capital projects schedule calls for development of between 10 to 15 kilometres of new mountain bike trails in the community forest, by the end of autumn. A $25,000 budget is allocated for the work, with the money coming from the Larose Forest reserve fund. – Gregg Chamberlain TREASURER-IN-TRAINING Valérie Parisien is the new treasurer- in-training for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR). Counties council confirmed her appointment during its May 22 session. Les membres du conseil de Clarence-Rockland ont tous voté en faveur d’une motion visant à créer un comité qui aurait comme but de découvrir la cause exacte des récentes inondations printanières. Celle-ci sera donc envoyée aux députés Francis Drouin et Amanda Simard. Or, la réponse pourrait se faire attendre plusieurs mois. C’est donc pourquoi le conseiller Mario Zanth a fait flotter l’idée de mettre sur place une réunion avec toutes les municipalités affectées par les inondations. —photo Francis Racine

Le 1 er juin dernier, un incendie sur le Chemin du Lac a complètement détruit une maison et un garage. « C’est une perte totale, a indiqué au journal Vision Mario Villeneuve, chef adjoint du Service des incendies de Clarence- Rockland. On a répondu à l’appel à 5 h 45, le samedi matin. » À leur arrivée, les pompiers ont déterminé que le locataire qui habitait la résidence ne se trouvait pas sur les lieux. La cause de l’incendie n’a pas encore été déterminée. « Déterminer la cause de l’incendie est plus difficile dans des cas de perte totale, comme celle-ci », a expliqué M.
