THE' KING’ S BUSINESS

PRACTICAL POINTS (1) Satan met his match when he met the Master. (2) God moulds men through many test ings. (3) The devil uses Scripture to snare men; the Lord uses it'to save men. (4) God’s Word works wonders in a fair fight. , (5) You can put it over on Satan if you can pull the Scripture on him. '( 6 ) The angels o f God minister to the men o f God. (7) The real call to the ministry is a call to catch men. ( 8 ) If you follow the Lord, you will find men. know who bought them, for his clerk said to the fellow: “I will not put them on the books and you can drop in and pay for them any time you like.” But God impressed the fellow to pay for them. He cried and promised never to buy any more pumps, but no relief came from God till he went to his room and wrote the letter and put in the money. His repentance was not true repentance till he was willing to make restitution. Repentance always comes before a call to service. Jesus preached repentance and soon after called his dis ciples to be fishers o f men. J esus C alling to S ervice —Jesus called men ti> be fishers, soul winners. The story is told o f one o f the leading merchants o f Boston spending twenty minutes each day on a street corner near Boston Common. This is a busy corner and many people stand here waiting for their street car. Some one looking in at a show-window will hear a question like this: “ Pardon me, but are you a Christian?” Then in a few well directed sentences he will lay the plan o f salvation before the person and urge them to receive Christ as their Sav iour.

Christ who strengthened me,” We shall never be free from these test ings ; we shall always need to lay hold of our Leader for help, and He will never fail us. : What was the method by which this Man overcame Satan? By the use o f the Sword o f the Spirit, the Word o f God. Here is a simple, practical rule for our lives.' All o f Satan’s subtle snares to overthrow us can be successfully opposed by the Word o f God, “ It is, written.” This is our defence. But to use the Word, we must know it. Jesus had studied the Scriptures. He knew the Book o f Deuteronomy. He laid hold o f the Sword. Satan used the same sword, but with no power; he used it deceitfully. “ Study to show thyself approved unto God” in the use o f God’s Word, for a victorious life. J esus S een .—In this lesson we see Jesus in the busy work o f life. Two little girls sat on the sofa at home one day looking over some Sunday School papers. One of them saw a picture o f Jesus and said, “ Oh, here is Jesus.” Then both o f them began searching through all the papers to find Jesus. One does not have to search to find Jesus in this lesson. He is here working among men. J esus T empted .—Here is a picture of Jesus tempted, but He never yielded one inch to the tempter. I heard o f a dog the other day that would take a package of meat in his mouth and bring it home with out eating a bit o f it... This same dog would guard a piece o f meat in the center o f the room for hours and never touch it. He knew how to overcome temptation bet ter than some boys. J esus P reaching R epentance .—Jesus preached repentance and faith. Christians need to repent as much as the unsaved. In an all-night prayer service, some years ago, a fellow was convicted about not having paid for a pair of dancing pumps he bought just before he was converted. He argued with the Lord that the merchant did not
