Department Initiatives

New Police Athletic League Sport Fort Worth Police Department Athletic League (FWPAL) is a collaboration between police and the community that works to serve Fort Worth ’ s youth. The FWPAL goal is to improve com- munity stability and build lasting relationships by hosting vari- ous sport activities. In January, FWPAL held its first official Judo practice at the Fort Worth Judo Club. The program includes 10 student athletes who range in age from 9 to 14. Coaches and mentors of the sport of Judo are comprised of five FWPD officers, which share a knowledge and expertise in Judo and other martial arts. The program will not only focus on Judo, but also excellence off the mat. To get involved with FWPAL click here.

Community Events FWPD hosted and attended multiple community events throughout Fort Worth during the past quarter. FWPD partnered with community leaders and businesses to provide residents with opportunities to gather together. Events included the La Gran Plaza new library opening, Cost Plus grand opening in the Northside neighborhood, and a Coffee with a Cop event in North Division.

Ribbon Cutting for New FWPD Facility On March 30, the City of Fort Worth and FWPD celebrated opening a new 7,494 square feet facility with a ribbon - cutting ceremony at 5300 Sun Valley Drive in southeast Fort Worth. The event was attended by City Councilmember Gyna Bivens, Assistant Chief Robert Alldredge, and members of the Sun Valley Crime Watch. FWPD recognized the importance to maintain a presence in the Sun Valley Industrial Growth Center and with this new facility will be able to provide improved services to the community. The facility was donated to FWPD by Sun Valley Properties, LP.
